Readings in Philippine History helped me understand more about the past of our country and the struggles experienced by Filipinos. Before, I thought history was mostly about memorizing dates, names, and important events. However, as I studied the subject, I realized that history is also about understanding the experiences, sacrifices, and decisions of people who helped shape our nation. Throughout this subject, I learned about the Philippine Revolution, the First Philippine Republic, American colonization, the 1935 Constitution, and other important events. These lessons helped me appreciate the freedom we have today and understand why knowing our history is important.
